Update 12 April 2021
Erne Paddlers News |
Hello All,
Some exciting news :)
To accompany our return to paddling we have a new website :)
Most of the content is up with the the exception of some images to brighten up the pages. There are also a couple of pages to go,, but please feel free to have a look around and let us know any feedback.
Our old address ernepaddlers.org.uk redirects there and we hope to get it all under that URL soon.
Along with the website we have a new membership portal and events system.
The membership is up and running and waiting for you all to join or renew!
There are guides on how to join, how to renew, how to add family members to your account and info on prices and benefits.
We will have our events (starting in May) ready for booking soon.
Please note, that the event discounts for members, u18, volunteers and assistance rates, will be automatically calculated at checkout from your membership information. This means that you have to be current 2021 member with up to date information in your membership profile on the portal for the correct discounts to be applied.
Also Important: In the past we have collected your membership fees and then sent of a proportion to CANI as an affiliated club and as essential for insurance. Under the new system, we can do this automatically (saving club admins a lot of time and effort!). However, all club members must add both a CANI membership (usually Adult or Junior Affiliated) to their carts, along with their Erne Paddlers Renewal before completing checkout. We have adjusted our membership prices accordingly to reflect this.
If you have any problems at all, check the detailed guides (which include some problem solving tips) and if that doesn't work, please feel free to get in touch by replying to this email - we are happy to help.
We are sure you are all keen to make the most of the lockdown restrictions being relaxed and we are working hard to organise our club programme, completed with a new website and booking system.
Our plan is for coaches and volunteers to return this week to refresh their skills and a full club programme will be ready for a 4 week block of courses and trips in May.
We will, off course, have rigorous covid-19 mitigating proceeds in place. The good news is that paddling is a naturally social distant but still social activity and we are sure we can operate safely as always.
Full details will be sent out via these emails and on our social media accounts (links below).
Our popular courses tend to fill up very quickly and this mailing list gets advance notice before we advertise to the public, so please make use of this and make sure your membership is ready so you can book early to avoid disappointment when the programme is published.
Kayaks for Sale
Attached to this email is a list of the second hand kayaks we have for sale. Full information on prices and who to contact are in the attachment. Thanks to John for organising all this :)
That’s all for now, we are all looking forward to seeing you all out on the water soon.
Happy Paddling,
Erne Paddlers Admin Team
Update 1 Apr 2021
A few important updates to come today from Erne Paddlers - we are planning our return to outdoor sessions - watch this space!
Firstly we would like to mark the end of our formal partnership with CANI as we have come to the end of this funding period. Harry (Paul Harrington) has worked tirelessly in this role and the club developments clearly show it! We continue to work closely with CANI to push forward high standards of paddlesport coaching, leadership and club development. Erne Paddlers Board of Trustees are delighted to confirm that Harry will continue in the same role for EP and we have big plans to launch our new website and streamlined membership and booking system soon.
Great news - from today we can meet up to paddle (just 10 people from max 2 households) - this is a great development for our competent paddlers and coaches but we feel a strong duty to do it right - we must remain socially distanced at all times (on and off the water) and take care over hand sanitisation and equipment quarantining - sport in general could suffer if individuals don't follow guidance - luckily we have roughly 2m paddles to help us out! As this is still for only 2 households, it does not allow us to run group sessions yet.
Return to club activities - many of our coaches haven't been out on the water for a while and we want to break them in gently - we will run coach engagement and safety training from 12th April (when up to 15 individuals can meet) to the week beginning 26th April to get everyone up to speed. Then we look forward to a club programme for all (as regulations allow) from the start of May.
We are all looking forward to getting back on the water and seeing our happy paddlers again
